With our 19 unique pools and saunas, Taking the Waters is a signature Glen Ivy experience designed to deliver relaxation and special benefits to your skin. To receive the maximum results to your skin and muscles, there is a recommended order to try each pool.

To start your pool experience off, we recommend a few minutes of immersion in one of our hot Mineral Baths, where natural minerals are easily absorbed into skin, imparting warmth to soothe aching joints and muscles. You will also notice the sulfur-like odor emanating from the waters due to the concentration of Sodium Sulfate in addition to small Calcium deposits which occur naturally. Rest assured, the waters come directly out of the earth in this form and our mineral baths are circulated every 10 minutes.

Next, take a dip in one of our Cold Pools, soothing sore muscles and allowing your body to cool off after a hot mineral bath.


After you take a cold dip, we recommend relaxing in our Lounge Pool, a perfect place to wade or float on a raft while catching up with friends and enjoying a refreshing beverage from Paradise Bar.

To get your blood flowing, try our Lap Pool for some exercise or catch a quick water aerobics class for a burst of good-for-you endorphins.

Finally, sit back and relax in our heated Saline Pool or enjoy Glen Ivy’s natural beauty beneath 106the Santa Ana Mountains with majestic views of the Temescal Valley from the Vista Pool.

The selection of activities at Glen Ivy Hot Springs serve as your resource to health, fitness, relaxation and renewal, and every month, we add and develop dynamic programming for guests to enjoy, designed to achieve a toned body and peace of mind. This month, we are proud to offer a special JoyFitness class, “The Magic of Color and Sound,” taught by Debbie Nuccio Durrough.

Based on the principal that a color or song can make you feel a certain way, the class draws from the concept that when you learn to associate color and music together you can learn a deeper sense of your feelings and be able to bring a sense of peace to your heart, body and mind. In “The Magic of Color and Sound” class, Debbie will give each student a blank canvas and water color palette, then share the meaning behind colors, working her way through the spectrum. Then a song will then be played that matches the color and its mood. The design will start to flow from your paint brush as the music is played. Whatever you are feeling will display on your canvas. As the music changes, you progress through all the colors. It is an enjoyable, emotional experience that will help you to open your heart, mind and body to be able to interpret the language and magic of color and sound.

Debbie is a Heartbeat of Reiki Drumming Master Teacher, Color and Sound Therapy Practitioner/Teacher; a trained HealthRYTHMS Facilitator; a Numerologist; and Feng Shui Consultant whose passion is “with teaching and facilitating a variety of holistic alternatives that support self-empowerment, personal growth and the new interpretation of “wellness.”

10 things that you can do to help you relax!

 Relaxation is a term that not many of us get to experience on a regular basis. With all of the daily tasks of life, work, parenting and the million other things to do in your day the last thing on your mind probably isn’t relaxation. Relaxation might be something that you would like to have added to your busy schedule but then something else pops up and your mind has wondered to one of the million other things that you need to do. The realization is that we all need to relax; no matter what we need to do to find that sense of relaxation, it is an important part in keeping your mind, body and sanity clear and calm.

There are many different things that you can do to relax and each person may find different things relaxing. Here are 10 things that you can try to help you relax.


  1. Read a book
  2. Get a massage or Facial
  3. Meditate
  4. Take a yoga class
  5. Enjoy a glass of wine or sip some hot tea
  6. Lay in the sun (with SPF of course!)
  7. Listen to music
  8. Engage in a craft or project
  9. Write (anything, whatever comes to mind)
  10. Take a walk

Some of the things listed above may appeal to you, and some may not. It’s ok to try new things, or keep doing what you love. The point of relaxing is to give yourself a break from the things that keep your mind and body moving at a million miles a minute. It’s okay to step back and slow down, even if it’s just for 5 minutes a day (although we think you deserve more). Taking time for yourself is important for you and those around you. So go ahead and take some time to relax.

Relax, Exfoliate and Re-hydrate in 80 minutes!

If you are looking for the perfect pampering session to help you relax, unwind, feel great and leave your skin feeling silky smooth then the 80 minute body treatment is perfect for you!

If you have never had a body treatment before, then you are truly missing out. The 80 minute body treatment combines the relaxation of a massage with the exfoliation and hydration of your skin to leave you in a peaceful bliss.

First,  your massage therapist will ask you to lay on your stomach and then will being to massage your neck, shoulders and back, while also paying special attention to those areas of concern that you discussed in your pre-massage. After, you are in a state of relaxation from your massage; a scrub is applied to your back, arms, hands, legs and feet. Each limb is worked on one at a time, and the scent of the scrub smells delightful! The gentle yet grainy texture of the scrub feels so good on your skin that you know you will leave feeling silky smooth. The massage therapist uses a warm towel to wipe away the scrub from your body, using a buffing motion to ensure that not a grain of scrub is left behind. After your skin is buffed and smooth, the massage therapist will then apply a creamy, rich, hydrating moisturizer to your skin in a massage motion. Again, on each limb as it is worked on. The scent of the moisturizer will drift you away to a tropical paradise and you will be hoping that the service is not over yet… and it’s not!

Just when you are about to feel like you might have to wake up from your peaceful bliss, your massage therapist will then ask you to turn onto your back. What else could there be you may think? It gets better! The whole scrub and moisturize process is done to the tops of your arms, hands, legs, and back (you may also get your abdomen exfoliated as well if it is to your comfort level). After, each limb has been buffed, polished and moisturized your therapist will then place warm towels on your feet and wrap you up like a cocoon using sheets and blankets. At this point you are so relaxed that the warmth and swaddle of the blankets will help you to remember how nice it must be to be a little tiny baby. While you are relaxing in a swaddle session, your massage therapist will then proceed to massage your scalp, and face using cool stones. When this is over the therapist will then massage your neck and shoulders to work out those last areas of tension that most of us carry due to stress.


When the service is over you will probably not want to move, or blink your eyes, you will want to just fall asleep and not think about anything else other than how amazing your service was. This service is a must have and the ultimate means of pampering. Your skin will feel silky smooth and the scent and feel of the moisturizer will last all day. This is the perfect service for a bride to be, or a special event where you want to look and feel your best.
