The Magic of Lavender

Lavender holds its beauty not only in its deep purple hues but also its natural medicinal healing properties. As popularity grows for the use of essential oils, lavender is favored amongst health minded individuals because of its versatility and pleasant, calming aroma.

The applications for lavender are endless, from baking to DIY household cleaners. But the true benefits are in the healing properties for the mind and body.

 

Lift Your Spirits

Lavender’s scent alone can lift depression and ease stress and anxiety. The oil sends a calming message to the brain making it a natural sedative and relaxant. By mixing water with a few drops of lavender in a spray bottle you can spritz yourself throughout the day to increase beta power and feel an overall sense of positivity and calmness.

 

Ease the Mind

Lavender has a soothing aroma that makes for an excellent nerve tonic that helps aid in alleviating pain. Many people who struggle with migraines can benefit from massaging lavender oil onto their temples and at the nape of their neck. A mixture of the scent and its medicinal powers can lift the migraine and produce a meditative state.

 

Heal Naturally

Commonly known for its anti-inflammatory properties, lavender makes for an excellent solution for healing cuts, burns, eczema and even dandruff. Mix a quarter size amount of coconut oil with a few drops of lavender and apply it to the problem area. Lavender is a natural antiseptic and will speed up the healing process and prevent scarring.

Lavender has been used for decades as a calming and relaxing herb for sore muscles and  joint pain. Meditation Month

Throughout the month of March, our wellness theme is Meditation! With the hectic pace and demands of our everyday life, it’s easy to feel stressed and overwhelmed. It can sometimes feel as if there is not enough time in the day to get everything done. All of these aspects can make us unhappy, impatient, and frustrated, often leading to affect our well-being. Meditation is both crucial and beneficial for a few reasons:

  1. It’s good for our bodies. Studies have shown that meditation can help reverse heart disease, reduce pain, and support the immune system.
  2. It’s good for our relationships. Meditating can help you connect with others in a more meaningful way, causing less anger, more self-reflecting, and love.
  3. It can change our lives. Even just a few minutes of deep breathing a day can help relax the brain, reduce anxiety, and decrease depression.

All you need are a few minutes each day to mediate. Here are a few tips to starting your mediation:

  1. Find a quiet place where you can relax and won’t be disturbed.
  2. Be present with your surroundings.
  3. Focus on your breath. Take long and deep breaths, feeling your breath go in and out.
  4. Take notice of your body and how each body part feels.
  5. Practice this daily.

Cabanas Perfect for a Couple Getaway

Our new poolside cabanas are located at the North Pool which offers stunning pool and waterfall views and can accommodate up to two guests per cabana. Our poolside cabanas include two chaise lounges and interior table seating for two. Revel in your own personal bubble of relaxation with your friend or partner. Not to mention that these cabanas include many special amenities to ensure that you enjoy your day at Glen Ivy Hot Springs to the fullest!

Global Wellness Day is June 11th!

Saturday, June 11th is on the international calendar as a day to recognize and celebrate the value of living well and engaging in activities that enhance our health and well-being. After all, what could be more important?

That was the question that inspired GWD founder, Belgin Aksoy, to begin this not-for-profit wellness movement three years ago.

“The fundamental purpose of the day is to make us aware of the value of our lives, even if it’s just for one day of the year, to make us stop and think, to get away from the stress of daily living and our bad habits, and thereby find peace with ourselves.”

Aksoy is also passionate about sharing the message that spas are more than places for pampering and weight loss. We are too! Destinations like Glen Ivy provide unique wellness experiences that invite you to step off the fast track long enough to take a few deep consecutive breaths and reconnect with what feeling good feels like.

Meg’s coaching sessions are highly interactive. They begin with focused time listening to your story and where you feel most challenged in your life and wellness. Be sure to spend some quiet time ahead of your session considering what areas of your wellness most need your attention right now. Each session then engages you in a wellness “exercise” so that you return home with a practical, feel-good plan for moving your wellness goals forward.

Goals are important! They give life meaning and energy, and make our hopes and dreams come alive. But goals are also scary, overwhelming, and elusive! We set them and too often forget them. Meg’s Inspired G.O.A.L. Setting session uses the empowered energy of your “well-self” to help you get clear about your path and energize your actions for guaranteed success.
