The Explore Game for Family Fun

I love to travel, but sometimes the big trips take a while to plan, working around finances or schedule. In between trips, I make time to recharge, and a day at Glen Ivy Hot Springs is one of my favorite ways to do that. I also like to play this game with my family. It is fun, educational, and gets us dreaming of all the places we will go!
All you need is a globe to get started. Give it a spin, close your eyes, and set your finger down… there! OK. Where did it land?
Say the name of the country your finger is on, this is where we will all be “travelling.” We get a book from the library or google up some interesting facts, and pretend that it is the trip we are on for the next few hours or rest of the day. This can include making a meal, creating costumes, learning some words from the language, and discussing what we would like to do during our visit.
It is always a lot of fun, kids enjoying the pretending to be on a trip, dressing up, and imagining what may be different or new to us. It helps them appreciate the world is much larger than our every day routine, and sometimes the day goes onto our list of future destinations!
