Meet Seraphina

Seraphina Ashe, Guest Program Director, Glen Ivy Hot Springs, Spa, Corona, CaliforniaWelcome to Glen Ivy’s first Book Club.  Over the next several weeks, we’ll use the power of social media to connect, converse and share a good book. Our first title will be The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister.

My name is Seraphina, and I am privileged to be your guide in this adventure.  I am the Director of Guest Experience Programming & Retreats at Glen Ivy.  Although I have a 15 year+ history of working in a spa environment, I have always been enchanted by the written word. If I ever win the lottery, you’ll find me opening a hip bookstore complete with earthy gourmet coffee, mysterious blends of herbal teas and Miles Davis music playing softly in the background.  I have always held a deep love for books; in fact, my post graduate work was in Library and Information Science.  Although the spa industry held more appeal for me than a career as a librarian, my affection for books remains and I look for any opportunity to join my passion for spa and literature.

Now that you know me, I would love to get to know each of you more…please feel free to post a comment below with a little about yourself and your interests.  What do you love most about a good read? Are there any special foods or drinks that you simply must have nearby when digging in to a new book? Do you read the book first or see the movie, then buy the book?

Hi, I’m Jennifer and I’m the Marketing & Communications Manager at Glen Ivy. I’m so excited for our first book club – I love to read, write, cook, and eat so this first book seems right up my alley! I’m eager to hear what everyone thinks about the book and happy to have this encouragement to keep reading – I love more than anything to get caught up in the places, people, characters and stories of books but often neglect giving myself that time to unwind into them. For me, it’s an easy way to relax and calm my mind at night. Cheers!

Hi Everyone, My name is Kathleen and work at Glen Ivy Hot Springs. I have had the privilege to work there for almost five years now. I am part of Cafe Soles’ BOH team. I am very excited about this first book because for me it hits close to home. I am an aspiring chef myself, graduating from Le Cordon Bleu, a few years ago. Reading books is a great way to escape into another world, kinda like a movie only better. I can not wait to see what other interesting people in these stories I will get to know, call me sick, but I love what I do and this book was a perfect way to start this summer book club! working with food, cooking food at home on my down time and enjoying what life has to offer is what I’m all about, how about you?

Hello, all! My name is Ashley, and I also work at Glen Ivy Hot Springs. I’ve been with Glen Ivy for six years now, and I work as a spa coordinator and spa host. I am so excited for this book club! Books are my life. Thomas Jefferson said that he cannot live without books, and neither can I! I graduated from Cal State University Fullerton last May with a Bachelor’s degree in English, and I am going back to school in the fall at CSUF for my Master’s degree. I’m pretty excited! As a student of literature, I’ve read a lot of great things. I love books that challenge me and books that get me thinking. I’ve never been in a book club, and I’m excited to read and blog with you all. Happy reading, everyone! :)

My name is Amanda and I am so glad to see you all discussing this book. It has a lot of personal significance to me, and I am enjoying reading others interpretations. I’ll always remember how surprised I was at my first book club when I realized that people may read a book entirely different than I did… It is a good experience to see things through the eyes of others.

Like everyone else here, reading, cooking, eating are some of my passions. I look forward to blogging with you!
