Symphony Four Handed Massage, New at Glen Ivy Spa, Brea
Four-handed massage is nothing new to a veteran spa enthusiast. Many spas have offered this amazing experience to their guests and it was only natural that the Glen Ivy Brea therapists wanted to add this service to their treatment menu. Lindy Hunhoff and Rachel Needham, our educators here in Brea, guided therapists through numerous workshops and trainings to teach the rhythm, symmetry, and balance it takes to perform a four-handed massage. When asked what she would call it, Lindy replied “Symphony.”
When the therapists came to me and let me know they were ready to give me a Symphony service, I have to admit I was a little nervous! I had always wanted to try a four handed massage, but now that it was real I didn’t quite know what to expect. When I met with my two therapists, Sonja and Cassandra, I was instantly put at ease. They went over all of the normal massage introductions (oil choice, areas of concern, pressure) and then let me know they would both be working on me at the same time, mirroring each others patterns.
When they started I found myself trying to keep track of where each was and what they were doing. To have all four hands working on either side of the body was surprisingly invigorating and relaxing at the same time. They stayed at the same pressure and rhythm and it felt as if I had one therapist with four hands! At one point, when Cassandra asked me about pressure, I realized that they had switched sides and I hadn’t even noticed. That is when I think my mind gave in to my body and I was more relaxed than I have ever been during a massage.
They each moved around my body, working together and focusing on the same muscles. I noticed that at no time was I wishing they would spend more time on an area, but rather that the service felt much longer than 50 minutes. They ended with one at my feet and the other at my head, each massaging for what felt like an eternity — complete bliss!
When the service ended I was unexpectedly energized, not left with the “wishing for more” feeling I so often have when a massage service is coming to a close. I felt ready to take on the day and share my experience with everyone I could! This Symphony service truly showcases massage as art; it’s an amazing treatment that I recommend you try.
