Intentions Into Actions

It’s time to welcome in the New Year and you know what that means – it’s time to make your New Year’s resolution! The aim to make improvements to our lives and our selves in the upcoming year is an age old tradition, but forming resolutions, big or small, can  be daunting. At Glen Ivy Spa we want to suggest that this thoughtful, introspective process be directed toward identifying “Intentions, and turning them into Actions.” This is the focus of our  January Monthly Challenge, where we will be discussing ideas to strengthen our resolve and support our endeavors. To start those wheels turning and offer some inSPAration to the process, we are inviting you to Share your Intentions! We will share as many as we can through the Blog along with any suggestions the Glen Ivy professional team has to offer to keep you on track. At the end of this week, we will select one submission to receive 12 Free Admissions to Glen Ivy Hot Springs in Corona, one for every month of the year!

How to Enter:

Send an email to Contest@GlenIvy.com by Thursday, January 6 and tell us about your resolution, why it’s important to you, and how Glen Ivy can help you keep it all year long.

The Prize:

One lucky winner will receive 12 Admission Passes (single use) for Glen Ivy Hot Springs in Corona – one day of admission for each month during the year! Intentions require action plans so let us help you put your intentions into actions in 2011!

My New Years resolution is to start an exercise regimen. I have been doing WW for 7 months and have lost 50 pounds, but I have not been faithful with my activity level. This year that will change. Glen Ivy will be a wonderful way to relax and rejuvenate tired muscles and the occasional weary mind. I find such peacefulness when I visit that it would be such an encouragement, kind of like a reward to go once a month. I will reward myself with the monthly visit for the vigilance I put towards a healthier me!

For 2011, I resolve to be much more organized. With all the changes that have come and go this past year, my home has kind of been chaotic. I want to begin the new year with having most things, if not everything, in order. I believe it will help get my mind in order too for the new changes and challenges expected in the new year ahead. Glen Ivy will certainly benefit me by relieving the stress and tension that I will encounter with keeping organization as my top priority and at the same time give myself some well deserved pampering!

  3. Adriana says:

    Hello Glen Ivy,

I have three New Year resolutions for 2011. Number one is to get healthy. This is my number one priority because for the past two years I have really let myself go. I eat what I want and don’t exercise regularly. This has led to me being almost pre-diabetic, and since diabetes runs in my family, I HAVE TO make changes now before I regret it later. So I’m going to start using livestrong.com to track my meals, I will be going to the gym, walking the dogs more often, and just keeping active. My number two resolution is to not sweat the small stuff. I tend to be a planner, and this often leads to many unplanned surprises. That leads to me stressing over things that I should just let go of to begin with. So I am going to pick my battles and not sweat the small stuff. My third resolution is to step out of my comfort zone. I tend to fall into little routines and that leads to ruts and boredom. I think I really need to step out of my comfort zone
to experience new things. Some friends of ours are getting married in Mexico in June, and even though I hate to fly, I will be joining in the celebration no matter what. I also plan on just doing small things that I normally wouldn’t do, from just trying a new hairstyle, to reading a book I wouldn’t normally read, to taking a different route to work or complimenting a stranger. Overall I’m really excited about this new year and I will do my darndest to keep all three of my resolutions. Thanks Glen Ivy, and Happy New Year!!

My New Year’s resolution is to take care of me this year. I have fibromyalgia and I am engaged and eventually want a family. My doctor has advised me to start yoga to strengthen my back and my entire body. I am scared to go in fear of the pain, but I am resolved to have a highly functioning body. I am also resolved to cultivate my passions, which will take my mind off the fibromyalgia and fill my nights with something besides doctor appointments. I will take singing lessons and dance. I have been to Glen Ivy before and know how much the warm water and relaxation benefits my body and soul. With all the added exercise, my body and soul will need the spa therapy. Lastly, I am resolved to continue to give myself to my students, friends and family and to empower all of them to fulfill on what matters to them most. Thank you for the opportunity to put my plan in action by declaring it to the web universe. Continue to bring peace and relaxation to all. :)

The Contest@Glenivy.com address doesn’t seem to be working at this point.

  6. My New Years Resolution is to continue to get healthier so that i can live longer and enjoy my grandchildren as they grow up. i want to be able to rolick with them in the floor and enjoy them as long as God allows me to live a longer life.

  7. Kim Foley says:

My New Years Resolution is to take care of myself. To me that means to loose weight. I started Medifast in November and since have lost 22 pounds. I got a little off track over the holidays, but I am right back on it. Besides losing weight, it is time to focus on myself. I am a wife, a mother and full time purchasing agent, now I need to just be Kim again. I think taking a little time out for myself will make me a better person to conquer all of my resposibilities.

  8. Lindsay says:

This year I will celebrate life. I will be happy with my decisions and at peace with myself. I will exercise my body and stretch my mind regularly. I will not let my wedding planning get the best of me, but rather I will get the best out of this amazing period in my life. This is the year!

  9. Dawni says:

My New Years Resolution is to find some balance, stress less, and enjoy life a little more. I work a minimum of 60 hours per week and I never find any ME time. Instead of always being the one to give the gift of luxuries, I want to find the time to enjoy these little gems myself. Sounds selfish, I know…but I need to find some balance so that I can prevent myself from becoming crabby! :)

  10. Roxanne says:

    Where do I begin ?
I work with eight women & one gentleman. I snap at them all the ime, I roll my eyes, say things under my breath & think horrible thoughts…
My goal is to be a better person. I vow to listen more, dont stress on the little things , help instead of criticize & not take every minute in my life for granite, I need to drive safer, be courteous of others. … and spend more attention to friends & family. Be interested in their life & stop talking about mine. If I ever die , I do not want to be remembered as anything else but, a good person. Im going to ask ” What can I do to make your day better ? “

  11. Toni Scott says:

I am entering since I have been able to experience Glen Ivy once this last November. Entering into the gates of Glen Ivy gave me that rush that’s gives me, a farm gal, the feeling of living in another world. Exciting, a glow of inner warmth, and the knowing that I was doing something for me and the extension of doing for me which I continually do in my surroundings. I exercise daily, so my resolution would be to increase my skin care by drinking water which will be a big turn-around. I also know that drinking water will not only be good for my skin but bones, joints and elimination. My desire would be to live close enough to indulge in Glen Ivy several times a week.

  12. Brenda Riconscente says:

In order to lead your family, shine at work or be a sacred friend you need to nurture yourself. I recently signed up for a corporate class to “Turbo charge my career”. As the time approached to take the course, I began to feel let down. I did not want to attend another class on networking or working smarter. I felt that I was already doing these things and did not think I could put much more of my self out there. Low and behold, was I wrong. When I attended the class, what I did learn was, it is not about working harder, but to the contrary, the way to turbo charge your career was to take the time to exercise, eat right and rest. I thoroughly enjoyed the class statistics on balance and left the class completely energized along with my fellow associates. Few of us take time to rest, rejuvenate or pamper ourselves. This education on investing in myself was enlightening and I think that Glen Ivy’s facilities with good food, massages, mud baths and resting by the pools with friends can help me with that investment all year long!

  13. Laura says:

This year, I will start my own business from home & take more time for myself to destress.

  14. Susana says:

My New Year’s resolution is to take care of me this year. I am thankful for the 38 yrs of health and I am sure I must take care of myself and who else to do this with but my 3 sisters. The youngest one has had a tuff life (drug use/children taken away) but she overcame it. The third one after me, has gone thru very tuff time too-her husband kidney replaced sick most of the time but she still hangs in there along with her 5 kids. The oldest lost her son 2 xmas’s ago 2009 and delt with it. IT was tuff for all of us, but not only do i admire her and the younger ones but they are strong. My main resolution for us to live longer and enjoy our families together with our Mother who has never left our side! I admire these 4 women in my LIFE and desreve the best?

  15. Roxanne Stribling says:

My New Years resolution is to bring at least 1 new guest every month. I will buy them lunch at the Cafe and introduce them to my Paradise.

  16. VM says:

My intentions and goals for this exciting new year is to continue with a healthy lifestyle which includes body work like message, yoga and exercise and eating more orgainic and healthy food . I have implemented a daily morning routine of possitive reading and affirmations to keep me on track for my goals. Other goals and intentions include creating and mainaining positive friendships and spending time together in healthy and fun social environments. Reading more books on topics of interest for the direction of my changes and goals, including money management and biographys of people who have made positive changes in their life . Meeting weekly with my accountabliity buddy to help keep each other on track for our goals.

  17. Pam says:

This year I plan to breathe in the sights, sounds and smells this life gives so freely. I’m going to look out at our magnificant sunsets and continue to be amazed at how beautiful they are. I’m going to take time to listen instead of talk, laugh with my friends and family more often and enjoy the positive things God has given me. Negative talk and actions are (like the kids would say) so yesterday! Positive action and energy is my 2011 goal and hopefully it will pass along to those I come in contact with. Glen Ivy offers just the kind of atmosphere to enable relaxation and a positive spirit.

  18. Jean Borden says:

I am excited about spending time at Glen Ivy, my wonderful getaway place, where I pamper myself, and bask in the special luxury of the mud club, the sulphur baths, a bottle of wine (shared with a friend), and everything “Glen-Ivy=ish” I’m 78 yrs old, and enjoying life, especially at Glen Ivy.

  19. Patty M says:

My New Years Resoultion is to spend more time on myself! Exercise, relax, try and lead a stress free life… life is too short. My favorite way to spend my stree free days are at Glen Ivy. I intoduced my daughter, niece and sister to Glen Ivy last year and we all loved it. Can’t wait to spend more stree free days in 2011.

  20. Caroline Benner says:

    My new years resolution is to cherish my age and my body. I get told so many times I look like I am in my teens when I am no longer. I used to pout arguing that once I got older I could drink freely and not look a day older. But the older the get the wiser I get and I know that when I am 50 I will not look like I’m 15 again but I might look 36 or 42..or another. I want to cherish my age because once I get older “senile” I want to be able to say to my children, yes my dears its okay to look a few years younger. Because you know what, it will be a blessing when you are my age and someone tells you you don’t look like you should have children at the ages you are. I want to cherish my age and my body because before I know it I will not have the complexion and built I do now. I am grateful for my family will now smile in those who tell me I look younger than I am. I am a glowing, what’s my age again? :}

  21. Kathryn Deardorff says:

My New Years resolution is to be better to myself. I am going to try to eat better, exercise more, and stress less. My schedule is pretty busy with working full time and having two other business’s to do book work for that my husband owns. Glen Ivy can help me with distressing. When I go there it is like I am on a resort Island and all my stress melts away and I come away from my day there feeling calm and rejuvenated.

  22. Jasmine says:

My New Year’s resolution is to strengthen my relationships with my mother, father and brother. For most of my life my relationships with my parents have been very transaction based; I’ve taken for granted the blessings I have that my parents and brother are alive and well. As we grow older and hear about people passing away or never getting a chance to ‘fill in the blank’ it makes me sad. I never got the chance to really learn about my parents. As a full time working mom of 3, I forget to devote time to my loved ones growing up. This year, I will resolve to spend some quality time with all 3. A simple phone call or a day out with them would really keep us in touch with one another. We can have some really good memories at Club Mud or some nice quiet time at one of the other Glen Ivy Spas. Thank you for developing this contest. By having to sit and think of a resolution and write it down, it is really going to motivate me to turn my intentions into actions!

  23. Shannon Johnston says:

My New Years Resolution is to put down the old and make room for the new! Letting go of old habits, thoughts & actions will make room for new opportunities!

  24. cheryl says:

My new years resolution was to stay off my phone when I’m with company…or atleast be on it less. I’m addicted to my phone!

  25. Margi says:

    My intentions this year are:

To be kind to myself. To remember to treat myself as kindly as I do others because I deserve it, don’t you? I believe that will include a few more trips to Glen Ivy with some occasional pampering treatment and a lovely lunch.

To spend more time with friends. Be able to not only support them but allow them to do the same for me.

Finish my art studio space. My need to work on my art is as essential to my well being as breathing. I’m excited and ready to get started and get back to all the images floating around in my mind just waiting to come to life on paper and canvas.

Be healthy, active, joyful, and grateful.

  26. Susan says:

I want to make this year the year for me where I succeed and get my goals in order with first then anything my health. I want to be able to eat smart and exercise diligently. Cholesterol runs in my family as well heart so I want to get to my 40′s and feel, be and look GREAT!
I know Gelen Ivy can help me with detox my body from things we eat and feel great with energy every single day.

  27. Aymee says:

    my intentions
    1.) eat healthy
    2.) exercise
    3.) relax

  28. Blanca Monzon says:

This year I will find balance between my MIND, BODY, and SOUL. I will do this by exercising, feeding, relaxing, and most of all loving, all three. I believe I can reach my goal by reading new literature, increasing my physical activity level, eating healthy, going to church, meditating, making time for my friends, and lastly treating myself to an ocasional day at Glen Ivy Spa! In the past I have focused too much on one thing letting the others fall by the way side, and I have learned that unless I work on all parts of myself I will not find my internal peace that I need to become a better person. So here is to a brand new year filled with all the possibilities that the universe gives us!

  29. Mary Stiefel-Smith says:

My intention is to focus more on myself. I am a “giver” by nature but my bucket..so to speak..is empty so I need to fill it back up! I teach so I give everything I have to my students and also am a mother so there you have it. Me time needs to be more than just time in front of the TV. I resolve to get out and do more, see more and BE more!

  30. Colleen Miller says:

My husband and I had a second daughter last year and have been so busy with our girls that we have barely even spoken to each other during dinner about anything but dirty diapers and time outs. So, my new years resolution is to getaway for a romantic day @ Glen Ivy spa (without kids)!

  31. Julie Camp says:

    My 2011 Resolution

I have said it every year, to be HEALTHY…..Lose weight……get stronger….

Well, after this enlightening ‘Christmas Day Back Pain Massacre’, I am more tempted to succeed!

I was experiencing some pain in my lower back all week, ignored it and worked on….until Christmas Day… I coughed and WENT DOWN.
I say the pain ranked a very close second to child birth! I couldn’t move off the couch. It was sad, embarrassing (had family over for the holiday), and hated my 10 year old daughter to see me in such a helpless, defenseless state! AND I’M ONLY 38!!! Geesh!

I am a licensed Home childcare mommy… I sometimes have 10 kids all day long.
Between transporting, in and out of car seats, highchairs, diaper changing…..I have lost all my strength….
in the 7 years of doing this, my neck and back have suffered. I have neglected them something terrible.

So! While I try to make it to Glen Ivy Spa (In Corona!) 3-5 times a year….to RELAX, get away, enjoy some much needed pampering,
I Resolute to try to go 1 time a month….:)and only GLEN IVY can help me with this resolution….and this time, I will take advantage of the classes that are offered…yoga, swim, etc.

I believe giving the gift of a DAY at the SPA helps make me a better person….not only physically but emotionally.

Thank you, Glen Ivy, for just being there…

    Sincerely,

    Julie Camp
    Corona

  32. Courtney says:

My intention for the New Year is to stay focused on what is most important…my family. I am back in school to get into nursing school so that I can help others, have a rewarding career and provide more income for my husband, son and myself. This venture is far from over but when days get busy it is important for me to stay focused on the three of us and what is best for us.

Being a mom, wife, student, full time employee, house cleaner, grocery shopper, best friend, daughter etc…I often get lost in the shuffle, none of which I mind. I am truly blessed by all the “mess”. :) Glen Ivy can help provide me with a little “me” time which I KNOW will help keep me going. What a relaxing treat those passes would be!

    Happy New Year Glen Ivy!

  33. Kathy says:

my intentions for this coming year is to live and experience life daily.i am a 3 time cancer survivor and after many long years of clinical trials and too many dr appt..i am in remission.gained lots of weight from steroid treatments and have been working towards losing it.will be a long process.i would love to win 12 mths of glen ivy as a once a mth reward to myself to celebrate life and a day of relaxation.would truly help keep me on track knowing at the end of every mth i could look forward to a day of much needed stress relief and relaxation at glen ivy

  34. My goals for the new year are to:
    1) Fit regular workouts back into my life. I now work full time and have kids with activities 4-5 days a week, so life gets busy.
    2) Perfect my meal plans so that I can keep losing the weight that I have worked so hard to achieve.
    3) Blog more often
    4) Pass all my tests and complete student teaching so I am ready for a teaching job in the fall (if there are any available)
    5) Find ways to keep my kids excited about exercising and find new ways to make foods they enjoy healthier.

  35. Kristin Williams says:

I have several intentions this year. One, is I am a mother of four who also works full-time. I do not get a lot of me time to excercise, eat properly (always on the go), excercise, and spending a little money on myself to get my nails done, hair done, etc! I have always put my kids and husband first and this last year has been hard on me. The next intention is to be more focused and involved in my youngest son’s acedmics and school. He is struggling and I need to reach my goal that he will succeed! Lastly, I want to be more spiritual for my family. Church has sort of gone away with sports and vacations and I need to bring that back into our lives. 2011 I hope will be happy, healthful, and a blessing to all!

  36. Erica Clayton says:

My top resolution this year is to listen. More often than not, I find myself in the middle of a conversation, not knowing what we are talking about or where we are headed. There are so many other things (aka. distractions) that I find myself preoccupied with. I have set out on my journey to care, to put the “not so important” task I’m faced with at the moment aside for a few minutes of actual conversation, to listen and ponder the words being said rather than simply hearing, to be caring and genuine.

  37. Jennifer S. says:

I have so many intentions this year. Is 365 days going to be enough? I guess I should narrow them down a bit. The two at the top of the list are getting back in shape and to just plane act happy.

My husband has lost 80 pounds over the 8 months. His progress of changing his eating habits and getting into an exercise routine is admirable and something he is encouraging me to follow as well. I want to be healthy for our kids, to not be out of breath playing tennis with them, to be there for our grandkids.

Between working part time, being a girl scout leader (not to mention being the cookie mom!), helping with cub scouts, homework help, shuttling children, housework and food prep, it is so easy to put myself on the back burner. Unfortunately, putting so much effort into other things leaves little patience for my hubby and kidlets. My part time job is with teen moms and their children. The energy I put in to helping them takes away from my own children. All of these things combined leave even less for my husband. I try my best to be his girlfriend. There are days I fail at this and it weighs heavy on me. No husband wants to come home to a crabby, naggy wife. I firmly believe that if Mom is happy, everyone is happy. We women have the power to change everyone’s day around with our attitude. And the first place I need to start is with mine.

  38. fran says:

Last year I had my 4th baby, and during each pregnancy gained 60 lbs or more. I lost the weight after the first and when I got pregnant again it all came back, then I was pregnant again and had not lost the weight, and again. So last year I lost 60 lbs. since then I have been fluctuating 5lbs. here and there. So my goal is to keep the weight off. I can do it, I just got to stay motivated.

  39. Brynna says:

This year I have a lot on my plate. A daughter who is married and living out of state with my first granddaughter. Two sons in college – one which is planning to get married this summer. And a son who will be leaving for two years this year to serve a mission for our church.
With all the guidance I give my children, they have seen me try to stay fit, be a productive member of society by serving in the community, and live a balanced life.
I need to eat in more healthy ways.
I need to exercise more efficiently.
I need to maintain balance personally so I can give to those around me.
My goal is to do all those things so I can be a friend to those who need it when they need it.

  40. Jean Oelrich says:

My New Year’s resolution is simple: to love and nurture myself. When I love and nurture myself, I’m rejuvenated, regenerated, and I have more energy to give others.

In years past, I seemed to channel some stern inner parent who kept telling me “to exercise more, lose weight, stress less.” Often my New Year’s hangover lasted longer than the resolutions. But this year, I’m accepting myself just as I am, and I’m nurturing myself with loving actions like a day at Glen Ivy Spa. I once read that an ancient secret of happiness is to want what you already have, and I believe that’s true.

This year, loving and nurturing will be at the center of my life and at the center of all my relationships and interactions with people. What could be more important in this day and age? And a key point in my action plan is to go to Glen Ivy Spa once a month to relax, to contemplate serenity, and to love and nurture my sweet self.

  41. Sam Gracia says:
